About the Place
Ristorante Pizzeria San Giovanni, located on Via Giuseppe Garibaldi in Alghero, Italy, offers a quaint and inviting dining experience for lovers of authentic vegetarian cuisine. Though it carries the charm of a traditional pizzeria, the menu impressively spans a variety of vegetarian dishes that capture diverse culinary influences.
What stands out is the careful balance between classic Italian flavors and hearty vegetarian options. The restaurant’s focus on pure vegetarian fare makes it an ideal destination for those seeking meals free from meat or fish. Guests particularly appreciate the veg crispy, praised for its delightful crunch and rich seasoning, creating a satisfying bite every time. Similarly, dishes like paneer tikka masala and butter naan provide a comforting, flavorful experience that reflects a blend of North Indian culinary traditions.
The service here complements the food well—warm, attentive, yet unobtrusive—allowing diners to enjoy their meals at a relaxed pace. This balance makes it well-suited for small groups or intimate dinners. While some patrons have noted concerns regarding hygiene and aging cutlery, the overall ambiance remains pleasant and the staff polite, reflecting the restaurant’s dedication to hospitality.
Drinks such as chai and unique offerings like lemon linger juice add a refreshing touch to the meal, rounding out the experience. The inclusion of traditional South Indian dishes like rawa dosa, podi idli, and the accompanying chutneys adds depth to the menu, appealing to a wide range of vegetarian palates and evoking nostalgic comfort for those familiar with these classic staples.
In summary, Ristorante Pizzeria San Giovanni excels as a neighborhood spot for those who prioritize vegetarian dishes infused with robust flavors and cultural variety. Its reasonable prices and warm atmosphere contribute to its charm, making it a memorable stop for both locals and visitors exploring Alghero’s culinary scene.
“ Tried dosa, podi idli, and chai here. Taste wise, the podi idli with chutney was spot on and authentic, while the dosa and chai were decent. However, the hygiene standards weren’t up to the mark.. the cutlery looked quite old and not well-maintained. If you’re particular about cleanliness, you may want to skip this place. ”
“ I ordered rawa dosa and paneer tikka and veg kolapuri with butter roti.. the north Indian cuisine was so so barely liked it even the roti wasnt so good or soft. The plates, spoons and plates werent looking so clean or hygenic.. My wife liked the chai.. You can come here for south Indian the rawa dosa was good and surprisingly good chutney and sambar and chai was also fine not recommended for whole lunch or dinner, The atmosphere and the place isnt that good either there are better restaurants in the vicinity for the same price point. The waiters weren't that attentive either. I used to come here when I was younger It was really good before corona. ”
“ Hey, this place is a great spot to grab a bite. It might be a little tight for a big group, but it's perfect for a small one. We were there for about 1.5 to 2 hours, and everything was awesome. The service was on point, and the food was delicious. If you're a veggie lover, you gotta try their veg crispy. It's a bomb! And the prices are pretty reasonable too. ”
“ Utsav has so many childhood memories attached. It used to be a go to spot for me and my cousins whenever we'd spend our vacations at our grandmother's place. We'd always have the spring rolls, noodles and chutney sandwich. The atmosphere, staff and food was top notch, we would also interact with the owner after our meal and uncle was so kind always welcoming sharing stories before bidding us away. I recently visited the restaurant after many years and ordered noodles and they absolutely gave me a trip down nostalgia, same old good iconic taste. The ambience however felt a little low now compared to back then and the staff is good. Nothing can compare to what this restaurant meant for us back in childhood and it still serves the same taste. Must try: Spring rolls, Hakka Noddles. The taste and quantity are good ”
“ I frequently visit here. Recently ordered veg cutlet, paneer tikka masala, butter naan, and gadbad ice cream. Veg cutlet - 80 Rs This is the best thing I always prefer to have. Mix vegetable, yummy in taste. served with chutney and tomato ketchup Paneer tikka masala - 190 Rs Butter Naan - 35 Rs per naan Nice gravy, liked the taste, could get the taste of good paneer and veggies grilled and added to the gravy. Naan was also good with lots of butter but it could not stay soft for a long time, then it gets tought to eat it. Gadbad ice cream - 130 Rs Yummy delicious dessert with mango, strawberry and vanilla ice cream. Starting with the first layer of mango ice cream which had fruits of apple and pineapple with creamy pineapple sauce below. 2nd layer had strawberry ice cream with soft jelly pieces. 3rd layer had vanilla ice cream and raisins and kaju below. really loved it. One suggestion, Mineral water small bottles were provided at the start, it should be mentioned that it will be included in the bill. As we think the water service is from the hotel side. It creates misunderstanding. ”
